Hearts in Driver Seat as Second Bid Rejected

The Clarets have had a second bid for Hearts striker Andrew Driver rejected.

Assistant boss Sandy Stewart confirmed to the Lancashire Telegraph that an improved offer was put in for the 20-year-old earlier this week but yet again was rejected.

The previous bid for the Oldham born player was £500,000

Sandy Stewart was not revealing how much had been offered this time round but confirmed the situation:

'We made an increased offer for Andrew this week but that has been rejected by Hearts, said Stewart

He was also coy about indicating whether a third bid would be attempted:

'We'll have to wait and see. We've got other targets who may become available in the meantime.'

This will be further disappointing news for Clarets fans, eager to see that the club can bring in it's first signing under Owen Coyle and Sandy Stewart.

Not having much luck are we? Stewart went on to say about the transfer situation in general: "We haven't set a time limit. The ones we've bid for we would have liked to have had them tied up so then we only needed one or two more, but unfortunately that's not happened. "It's never that easy in football, especially when you're talking about a top player. Not only will his own club want to keep him, but there will be other clubs interested."
