US Friendly Changes & Confirmation

It has now been announced on the Burnley Official Site that the Clarets will fly out to North Carolina on Tuesday 8th July and play an exhibition match against the Carolina Railhawks PDL team on Thursday 10th July at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina (Kick off 7:30pm local time)

Carolina RailHawks is a professional team, founded in 2006, playing in the USL First Division, the second tier of the American pyramid.

Carolina currently play at the 7,000-seater WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

The team also has a development team, Cary Railhawks U23's, which plays in the USL Premier Development League and in 2007 the RailHawks formed a parternship with the Next Level Academy (NLA) and the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) to develop the youth system for boys and girls in North Carolina.

The Clarets will then travel to the National Sports Centre in Blaine, Minneapolis, for a match against the Minnesota Thunder on Tuesday 15th July, kick off 7:35pm local time, before returning to the UK the following day.

The match against Austin Aztex has been cancelled due to a fixture clash and other Clarets pre-season commitments

Both Carolina and Minnesota seem to be very progressive in the youth development area based on discussions we have had in our forum and on their US forums. Let's see how their sides fair playing against a higher level team! ;-)
