Rumour Mill-Spicing up Donny?

Rumour Mill-Spicing up Donny?

Doncaster Rovers gaffer, Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed that he is interested in bringing former Bournemouth & Burnley midfielder John Spicer to the Keepmoat.

O'Driscoll knows Spicer from his days as manager at Bournemouth

Speaking to the local Doncaster Free Press, O'Driscoll said:

'John is a player with a lot of ability and a lot of energy and I think he would fit in very well here.

'He was brought up the right way at Arsenal but I think the move to Burnley may have come a little too soon in his career.

'We will be having a chat with him but there is nothing definite because I know there are four or five other clubs interested.'

Spicer started just one game last season under Coyle; the match at Portman Road and even then he managed to get sent off!

The newly promoted Championship side could also be interested in another former Bournemouth and Burnley midfielder, Garreth O'Connor. Another player released by the Clarets at the end of last season.

Bet these two cause the Clarets trouble if and when they sign for Donny Rovers and play against us next season!

The Rovers manager has confirmed he wants to team back up with the 24-year-old. O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "He's available and has four or five clubs interested in him. We've talked to his representatives and to John himself and everything is moving forward. "I would hope that previous association would stand us in good stead. With all these things I think that we encourage people to ensure that this is the right move for them. "It's no use in having an unhappy player, so if he's got four or five other clubs interested, we have no problems in him speaking to them and I think that process is going on now. "We're due to meet again next week and I think that something will probably be formulated then."
