Paterson wants to Leave Scunthorpe
Martin Paterson has handed in a transfer request according to the Official Iron site.
The 21-year-old striker has been linked to the Clarets and was the Scunthorpe's leading goalscorer last season, with 14 goals. The club however suffered relegation after only one season in the Championship.
The Clarets have had two bids rejected to date and this seems to have stirred the striker into action after meeting with his agent this week
Although a number of other clubs have also been linked with the former Stoke man,it could be the Clarets that are now in the driving seat and this latest news will fuel speculation that Paterson could be wearing a Claret shirt for a different club next season.
Paterson decided to hand in a request after he spoke to vice-chairman Rex Garton and general manager Jamie Hammond but Scunthorpe still appear to be digging their heels in:
'Martin Paterson has put in a written transfer request to the club but has been advised, through his agent, that the request is turned down,' explained vice-chairman Rex Garton.
So are we back to square one, or are Scunthorpe about to realise this is the price they have to pay for relegation?
