Rumour Mill-Double Swoop in Scotland

Burnley are planning a 1.5m double raid to land Hearts winger Andrew Driver and Celtic forward Derek Riordan according to the Daily Star.

Both these players have been recently linked with a move to the Clarets and Vital Burnley previously put up articles about both players.

Hearts were reported to have already turned down a 500,000 bid from Burnley for their 20-year old winger, Andrew Driver.

Celtic on the other hand put a value of 1 million on their out-of-favour striker, Derek Riordan back in January.

A 1.5 million bid if split 50:50 could keep both Scottish clubs happy and these offers could well be in the right region.

Sounds like a reasonable bid for these players depending on the split. If anybody gets the Daily Star, let the site know if there are any details of the split

I think you could be right there TMP with a 50-50 split. It should be enough to secure both signings. Maybe there is an extra add on too. Hopefully there is some truth in this and the signings come off. Both are great signings IMO and would show that we are ready to build a really strong squad full of younger players, pace and spirit.

Whoever gets Derek Riordan should be aware of the attitude they are buying. This is a very talented kid who expects to be playing every week because he shows up, not because he works for the slot. He has the ability for sure but he lacks the understanding that no-one gets a place unless they earn it.

i would be very surprised if hearts sold driver for 750k as they regard him as one of their top players and surely value him at more than that.i would think about the 2mil mark.you would maybe get riordan for that but thats only because he will never play for celtic again. If you get him for 750k you will have got a bargian as he is worth alot more..i also think the days of english teams raping scottish clubs of their players for next to nothing is over..just take gordon and hutton for example they went for 9mil a peice.Although i dont think driver is of the same level i still think the jam farts of mid lithuania would want more than 750k.

There could well be add-ons to these deals, you never know. I certainly think it's time Celtic seriously look at Riordan and ask if it's fair to stick out for more money for a player that last season has hardly featured at all and seems to be an embarassment to the club. Surely 750k is a fair price? I can understand Hearts fans wanting more for someone who appears to be rated their best player in 2007/8 but we shall see if owt comes of the rumour

Whats the point of paying a guy a salary when you have no intention of playing him? Cut your losses and release the poor guy for 750k

"poor guy"?? what is this, an episode of jeremy kyle? the guy has a price tag of 1m(a reduction on his true value). pay it ,or like i said, there are some lovely young chaps plying in the conference. btw, the logic in keeping his wage on is that eventually a non time waster will come and pay the 1m and we will see a larger mark up than if we sold him to some poverty stricken club for 750k just to get his 5-6k basic wage off the books. you sound like celtic owe you and riordan a favour, perhaps you can give us poor lafferty for 3.50 and a bag eccles cakes......oh wait, that's his true value

He will leave Celtic for less than 1 million I bet and that should keep everybody happy and resurrect a player's career from the hell he readily confirms. Lafferty wants to move on because he thinks he can play for a better club, Riordan wants to leave because he wants to play for any club after the disastrous move he made to Parkhead. The 1m pricetag has been placed on Riordan since Jan and nobody has been prepared to pay that amount for someone that has hardly played in a year. Outcome? One player not playing football, one club paying a salary for doing nothing and one club and player at each other's throats, Reality will set in eventually

sorry, you'll have to excuse me while i wipe a tear from my eye(the glass one). .......and that reality will say: "1 million pounds please". btw, you're not a member of young derek's family are you, you seem rather emotionally attached?

Fail to see any irony but I hope to see fairness and a happy conclusion when Riordan is trotting out for the Clarets and signed for under the ridiculous 1m pricetag.

They are also linking Riordon with Leeds United. With Strachan and Mcallister being old buddies he mat end up at Elland Road.

now now phil, i had you down as blinkered and belligerent, but not dumb. you honestly can't see any irony in slamming riordan's modest price tag as "ridiculous" while vainly trying to justify lafferty's extortionate ,and frankly laughable, price tag of 4-5m??? time for a holiday i think, my friend. .........and not chorley....again!
