Clarets confirm interest in Riordan

Brendan Flood has confirmed that the club are still interested in bringing Celtic striker Derek Riordan to Turf Moor.

Burnley are understood to be in pole position to sign the 25-year who is becoming increasingly sidelined and ignored at Parkhead.

Leeds United appear to be the main challenger for his signature as reported by Vital Burnley yesterday.

'He is definitely of interest,' said operational director Brendan Flood today.

Billy Bingham Reports on Progress

Legend, Billy Bingham was recently recuited by Owen Coyle to scout for young talent in Ireland. He seems to have been busy already!

'I've seen Glentoran, Linfield and Coleraine play recently and gave the names of three or four players to Owen,' Bingham said today

'If Owen likes them, then good and if we can get some good players between 18 and 23, then all the better for Burnley.

'I was in retirement when the call came, but I would hope the club see that I am a good judge of a player and can point them in the right direction, particularly in Ireland'

Sounds like Billy is doing a sterling job! Glad we are still pursuing Riordan too

Both good bits of news.

Would be good if we could get the equivalent of Reading's Kevin Doyle & Shane Long! Cotterill was reported to be after both those two a few seasons back
