We announced yesterday that the Clarets would be touring the US in July and play at least two friendly matches, one of these against US franchise team, Minnesota Thunder on Tuesday, July 15.

Imagine how thrilled and delighted we were, when a Minnesots fan (uhclem)contacted the site offering help and advice

We repeat below a post he made in our Backchat Burnley forum.

------------------------------------------

Hello.

I am a member of the Dark Clouds, the supporters' group for the Minnesota Thunder. Here's our website:

http://www.blueskysoccer.com

Here's the official website for the Minnesota Thunder:

http://www.mnthunder.com

Here's the message board that most Thunder supporters use (once there, scroll down to 'Minnesota Thunder' forum):

http://www.usldiscussions.com

Registering there is free and almost as easy as registering here.

I will post a hotlink to this thread in the forum. It might even be possible that some of the Dark Clouds might be willing to put up a few visiting Burnley supporters for a few nights. I used to provide room and board for a couple of Milwaukee Rampage supporters (a rival since folded) one of whom was from Oxfordshire and guest working in the U.S. Sadly, I have moved out of the state (business reasons), otherwise I would make the offer myself. But for those of you who might actually want to make the trip, it could be worth the inquiry.

If you have any questions about the team or the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, of which Blaine is a suburb of, please feel free to ask me here or the fans at usldiscussions.com.

Welcoming you and your club to defeat (might as well start the festivities now ), I remain

That little old jersey collector

Many thanks to uhclem for registering on Vital Burnley and offering help & advice. Hopefully this will now allow both Clarets and Minnesota Thunder fans to exchange chat on both our sites and get in some friendly banter.

If you want to ask any questions then go to Backchat Burnley and the 'Team to play a few friendlies in USA' thread or have a go at chatting to them in their forum.

Will be great to have a chat with a few US fans from Minnesota! Even better if we eventually go into partnership with each other

I'm sure I am like many English football fans and know very little of the football in the USA. They only seemed to take football (soccer) seriously in 1994 when they held the World Cup. Judging by the many great players that end their careers over there now though would suggest that they are really making a big effort to grow the sport out there. Hopefully I and many more can learn quite a bit about the football across the pond.

I believe its taking off bigtime again. Flood said: 'The American market is exploding and, from being the 10th most popular sport just a few short years ago, football is now the third most popular and played by young people right across such a huge country" Get in there!!

Becks will help influence even more too. They usually have good keepers, so if we can get one of them we will have made a good move.

Hopefully the US guys from Minnesota and Austin, coming into our forums will be able to give us a better feel for the state of the game in the US. Becks I read is being pulled between the US and England to support the 2018 World Cup bids!
