Clarets on US Pre-Season Tour

Clarets on US Pre-Season Tour

Hot on the heels of the news that Kilby, Flood, Fletcher and Stewart were off to the US this week to build close links with US teams with a view to building a youth development scheme, it has now been announced that the team will also tour the US in July and play some friendly games.

The one's confirmed so far are:

Wednesday, July 9 - Austin Aztex

Tuesday, July 15 - Minnesota Thunder

There may also be another friendly in between those dates at Minnesota's ground.

Minnesota Thunder are one of the teams that Kilby & Co will be talking to this week.

Austin Aztex are the club with close connections to Stoke City and are the US franchise managed by former Claret gaffer and player, Adrian Heath

According to the Official Site the affiliation with Stoke City includes the Potters holding their summer training camp in Austin, scouting for talent both locally and across the US, exchanging players with the Aztex and sharing best practices between the two clubs.

This is clearly something that Burnley FC have in mind with a suitable US franchise team and the tour will help cement good relationships in the States.

Just a quick note for any of our passing USA fans. Feel free to stop by the forum for a chat and get some pre-match banter going :-)
