Clarets set for busy summer

Clarets set for busy summer

NATIONAL tabloids are this morning linking Owen Coyle and Burnley to a host of transfer deals including people coming in and out of Turf Moor.

The News of the World is this morning claiming that Mick McCarthy has come back with a third bid for Northern Irish wantaway Kyle Lafferty, putting in a straight bid of £3.5million for the striker come left winger.

The bid is thought to be being seriously considered after the big headed youngster lashed out at the Clarets claiming he'd rather be chasing the Play-Offs with Wolves rather than struggling in the bottom half with Burnley.

Vital Verdict: Could come true.

The News of the World also goes on to say that Burnley have joined the race to sign Darren Byfield, who has just been released by Bristol City manager Gary Johnson.

But Coyle will have competition for the former Millwall man's signature as Plymouth Argyle, Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday also want the striker.

Vital Verdict: Highly unlikely.

Again the News of the World mentions Burnley claiming they have squandered their chance to sign Martin Patterson by having their two bids turned down for the Northern Irish frontman as other clubs become interested.

Norwich City and Cardiff are ready to make a bid for the £800,000 rated striker with Scunthorpe's acting chairman remaining reluctant to sell back to the Championship, following the Irons' relegation back to League One.

Vital Verdict: Could come true.

The Sunday People has The Clarets linked with a move for Blackpool's left back Stephen Crainey who swept the club's Play of the Year awards at the end of the season following his free transfer from Leeds United last summer.

Crainey has only just signed a one year extention to his contract with the Tangerine's in May so a deal to take the defender away from Bloomfield Road seems highly unlikely. But apparently Coyle is ready to put forward a £250,000 offer for the Scotsman.

Vital Verdict: Hopefully untrue.

I wanted both JOC & Harley to sign. Not fussed about the others! We will miss both these next season IMO and it's made our task of getting good squad players more difficult. We now need four players just to keep still!

I was hoping for a busy Summer anyway, but would have liked it to have been all about new players coming in. We will get there in the end, but just hope we don't miss out on our first choice targets and end up with gap fillers.

I think we've already signed someone personally. Think it will be announced when window opens imo.
