Lafferty Outburst in Belfast Telegraph

Lafferty Outburst in Belfast Telegraph

Kyle Lafferty last night launched an amazing attack on his club and gaffer during an interview by the Belfast Telegraph.

He is quoted as saying the following:

"I`ve enjoyed my time at Burnley, learnt so much at the club but I now feel it`s time for me to move on.

"I need a fresh challenge at my stage of my career.

"I`ve given my all to Burnley but don`t feel wanted. No player is going to stay where he is not wanted.

"I was happy under previous manager Steve Cotterill, things have changed though and to be honest I don`t feel the same way.

"If I had been given the opportunity to leave during the last two transfer windows I would have left — however those bids were turned down by the club."

"I understand Wolves and Rangers want to sign me — I would be thrilled to move to either club.

"Celtic are also interested but I don`t think that`s ever going to materialise."

This is clearly terrible news and quite frankly most Clarets fans will now be up in arms based on these comments. The quicker we get rid of him the better if he feels that way. Let's make sure we make a killing, all the other clubs are trying to bleed us dry so let's return the favour!

Stupid boy!!

We can't really say that his words may have been taken out of context judging by everything he has said. Not too sure if it is Lafferty being greedy or wanting to further his career. Sounds like he and Coyle do not get along. If he were to go to Wolves, then I imagine it is for money. Rangers could give him success and European football, but he is not guaranteed to play and going there might ruin his career or make it. I would assume that Coyle has told all the players how its going to be under him for the next season and a few of them obviously do not want to be a part of it. He says that he does not feel wanted, but we keep proving we want him by rejecting bids, so it must be the relationship he has with the manager.

I suppose if you think about it, he was played on the wing more often that not under Coyle and hardly had chance to play up front with Cole,Akinbiyi and Blake around. Probably peed him off, I hope thats the only reason and Coyle isnt losing the dressing room.Coyle simply has to bring in his own players soon and keep those loyal&motivated to play for the Club. We need some good news and quick! Its all rejection and negative energy at the moment

Looks like he would prefer to go to Wolves: “It’s always been an ambition of mine to play in the Premier League and I feel, if I moved to Wolves then I’d have an excellent chance of reaching what many believe is the greatest league in the world.” So yet another dig at the Clarets, who he clearly thinks dont have any chance of top flight

Hi claret fans. I'm a Celtic man but was wondering what the fuss is about this lafferty. Coyle wants £4-5 million for him yet he looks very average with a poor scoring record. Is he as average as I seen when you were against arsenal in fa cup. I'm praying we don't get him but maybe you think otherwise. p.s. Coyle will come good for you.

Hi Larsson.Well, I think its all about potential and considering he has been played out of position on wing for most of this season, I wouldnt rate him on the basis of that! You can have him since he has stabbed the club in the back. Can we have Riordan as part of deal?

The time he has spent on the wing will really benefit him. Henry used to play on the wing to help teach him where a striker needs to be to get on the end of crosses. Lafferty is all potential and thats it. He might make a star, but then again he might flop. If he goes to Celtic or Rangers he might flop because he will not get regular football and at the stage he is at he needs more football. Wolves will be his best move. I think his value is about 1.5 million, but his potential could be worth a hell of a lot more and thats what clubs will be paying for.

"Is he as average as I seen when you were against arsenal in fa cup" he played really well in that game though, ran their defence ragged and was the biggest threat in the game until he was wrongly red carded.

Yeah, I thought that was a strange match to choose, since he nearly scored in the first few minutes and had a good game until he was sent off for a rather dubious foul

I do think he is wasted out on the left though, always hugging that touchline, would have liked to see him play through the middle more. You may see him do that wherever he may go.
