Rumour Mill-Clarets Russell up Deal for Darel?

Norwich midfielder,Darel Russell has been linked with a £500,000 move to Burnley according to one local East Anglian newpaper, the Norwich Evening News.

The paper also states that Norwich City are preparing to repel any offers for one of their top performers last season.

Russell began his career with the Canaries as a youth player but despite a number of appearances was unable to establish himself as a regular first team player.

He was transferred to Stoke in 2003 for £125,000.

Russell then rejoined the Canaries from Stoke City for £410,000 last summer. He has since been playing regularly in the first team under Norwich manager, Glenn Roeder although he was rested towards the end of the season.

The Canaries gaffer has already stated he is not wanting any of his remaining first team squad to leave before next season and he looks set to try and ward off attempts by the Clarets to sign the 27-year old. It is understood Charlton and Crystal Palace are also interested in the player

Either the local paper have picked up some local gossip or they are just picking up on specialtion & gossip from the forums over the Bank Holiday weekend.

But where has the gossip come from? I know these things can be a load of BS, but how does the saying go? No smoke without fire!!

There is normally an element of truth in it when a local paper prints something but how these things are leaked if true, god only knows! Moles at the clubs?

The club seem to have accepted that they have bid for some players-Paterson, Driver & MCDonald but have not confirmed an interest in Russell. As far as I can make out the rumour was started by another Clarets messageboard article and nobody else has seen anything in the media apart from the local article above. They might simply have used the original rumour too. Not convinced we are interested in this player at all
