Billy Bingham-New Clarets Irish Scout

Billy Bingham-New Clarets Irish Scout

76-year-old, former Northern Ireland manager, Billy Bingham has joined the Clarets staff as a scout.

'The job I'll be doing is observing the Irish market for players, looking both north and the south of the border, said Billy about his new role.

'I'm quite happy to do a job for Burnley, hopefully find one or two real talents and then let the manager look at them.

'I've spoken to Owen several times and he seems a really nice guy. I just hope and pray that he trusts my judgement.'

Bingham played in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden and also led his country as manager to two finals in the Eighties.

The close ties that the Clarets have with Northern Ireland have once again borne fruit.

Welcome aboard, Billy-A true legend!

It is good news and it further enhances our already strong links over there. Is Billy Hamilton still doing something for us over there? Or is he working for Glentoran?
