'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rumour Mill-Matt Walwyn

According to the local paper, the Burnley Express, 17-year-old striker Matt Walwyn, has been strongly linked with Burnley FC following his brace on Sunday for Kirkham and Wesham in the Wembley FA Vase;goals which ensured victory for the Fylde coast side.

Matt is the son of the late Blackpool and York frontman Keith Walwyn

He has scored nine goals in only six starts including one hat-trick.

Walwyn also turned down a contract at Bury despite a successful trial last summer.

The reason was he wanted to complete his PE, Biology and Business Studies A-levels.

Matt would like to play in the Football League but clearly has his head screwed on

'That would be nice, but I'm keeping my options open and have applied for business management courses at University.'

Kirkham gaffer Mick Fuller also rates the young striker and said over the weekend

'Matt is a fantastic prospect and has pace to burn. He has proved a point, that he can finish.

'Fortunately we've got him on a contract at Kirkham, but I'm sure there will be interest from clubs higher up the football ladder in the coming months.'

Sounds a level headed young lad and a great footballing prospect!

Tons of pace and will be low cost, so well worth the risk.
