'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rumour Mill-Sun Jihai

Chinese international, 30-year old Sun Jihai has been linked with a move from Manchester City to Turf Moor.

Sun is virtually a utility player and can play anywhere in defence or as an holding midfielder. Sun's main strengths appear to be his speed, physical strength, crossing and attacking forays down the wings.

He is a key player for the Chinese National team having obtained 66 caps.

Sun started his professional career with Chinese side, Dalian Wanda in 1995.

Sun along with fellow team mate, Fan Zhiyi signed for Crystal Palace in 1998. They became the first Chinese footballers to play in the English leagues. He then returned to China to play for Dalian Shide before returning to England to play for Kevin Keegan's Manchester City

Sun signed for Manchester City from Dalian for £2 million in February 2002.

He was voted the best player at Manchester City for the month of September 2002.

In the 2004/05 season Sun was out of action with a cruciate ligament injury.

He managed however to get back in the side eventually and was given a further two year contract by Stuart Pearce.

Under new manager, Sven Goran Eriksson, his appearances have been limited and it is understood the player wants to move and would prefer a club in the North West.

The question is can Coyle convince the Chinese international to move down a division to the Championship? It is rumoured that preliminary discussions have already begun about a possible move.

Sounds a useful player to have around. If he can play left back could be the ideal potential replacment for Harley, with Jordan competing with Sun for the position.

Yeah think he would be a useful signing for you guys, his versatility would be very handy.

Looks like a no go! Speaking to the Telegraph, the Burnley boss said: "I don't know where those stories have come from. "I've certainly not spoken to Manchester City or Sun Jihai. I'm looking for good players to bring to this football club, and there will be an element of one or two of them being of a more experienced type. "But where possible, I'm looking to bring younger legs into the football club. "Within that, some are going to cost the club money, and I've already put things in motion."
