'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Davis Returns As Scout

Steve Cotterill has added a fans favourite to his backroom staff, with former skipper Steve Davis employed as a scout.

Davis made over 350 appearances for Burnley in his three spells at the club and will no be working alongside Chief Scout Clive Roberts in travelling to matches and assessing teams and player for Cotterill.

Davis will also be turning his hand to coaching throughout the week, and the 37 is glad to be back.

'I'm grateful to Steve Cotterill for the opportunity to get back into the game and it's a foot in the door because it is difficult to get into football again once you are out of it. I'm grateful to Steve and the club from that point of view and I'm looking forward to the challenge and everything it might bring with it.'

'I spoke to the manager and he said it was something he had been looking at for some time and it's all come to fruition. When I was injured last season I did a few match reports and stuff for York, so I have had a taste of it (scouting) and it's something I enjoy doing so I'm really excited and looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity.

'I've done a little bit of coaching, but I have made a start on it so from that point of view it might be just a case of going down and taking a warm-up or something.

'From a personal perspective, I've had a little spell out of the game since I left York and I'm just delighted to be back in the game now and even more delighted to be back at Burnley.

'I'm looking forward now to coming in and speaking to Steve and Cliff and seeing what is required.

'I'm just excited about the whole thing, it's great news and we're just waiting for a few bits and pieces to get sorted and then I can get cracking.'
