Yehaw Heath Stokes it Up

Adrian 'Inchy' Heath is in the news again after becoming manager of a Texas state club, Austin Aztec.

The former Clarets player, became Burnley gaffer in March 1996 replacing Jimmy Mullen. Inchy left the Clarets to join Everton as assistant to Howard Kendall back in June 1997.

The manner of his leaving left a bitter taste for many Clarets fans and even to this day he has had to carry this stigma with him.

His next and only full managerial role came with Sheffield United but that proved unsuccesful soon being replaced by Neil Warnock.

He has also been involved with Coventry as caretaker boss after Peter Reid left and again following the departure of Micky Adams. He left the club just before it was announced that Iain Dowie would be the new manager.

His new club, Austin Aztex signed an agreement with fellow rivals Stoke City and the announcement of Adrian Heath's appointment was made at a press conference at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke's Chief Executive Tony Scholes has descrobed the agreement as an official affiliation.

The Editor of Vital Stoke had this to say about the situation:

'The new US team, which will start playing in the second tier of US soccer next year, is owned by Potters' director, Phil Rawlins. It has strong links to the Potters and the intention is for the new club to be a feeder for talent coming to the UK. The team will also play in red and white strips and is the first fully professional soccer team in Austin, Texas.

Inchy, who was born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent, started his career as an apprentice at Stoke, making over 100 appearances for the Potters between 1979 and 1982'
